Lovely to see on the front page of today’s NYT:
That’s Officer Alissa Hernandez proposing to her girlfriend during the 42nd annual gay pride parade, two days after New York state approved same-sex marriage.
Forty-four states still ban gay marriage, but the latest Gallup poll shows 53% of Americans nation-wide support it. As the world doesn’t fall apart following New York’s decision, expect to see that percentage rise.
Could common sense finally be in the ascendance?

The radical idea that all people are created equal!
making up for the rest of 47%…..let Divine Word rule…
This makes me so happy I could cry – but still I wonder how do we live in a world where 44 states still think it’s okay to gift different rights to different groups – how do people genuinely believe that this is not a civil rights issue? Sigh…
Just curious to find out how Lesley reconciles this awesome display of love with her advocacy of the Quran as a ‘holy book’, when the Quran deprecates homosexuality.
And I am not a christian, so a simple-minded response that claims the Bible also deprecates the Quran would be simple minded.
Advocacy? Reading the Quran equals advocacy of it? Does that mean that reading the Bible equals advocacy of it? Or that the study of prejudice equals advocacy of it? Time to start thinking instead of knee-jerking, Marco.
